i finally found some time through out the day to work on a different journal page for the class that i am taking. tomorrow another lesson will be posted to further our journaling skills and i wanted to try to get at least one more page done before the next posting. i'm coming in right under the wire.

staying blue
i just finished another page for the blue swap. the pages are going better for me now. each one has been less time to complete. i'm not sure if it will stay true to that sentiment for the next three but i'm keeping my fingers crossed.
journal week three
this week's assignment in the journal class was to add doodles to our journal pages. i took last week's page i uploaded here and added doodles to that page so you could see the natural progression of a page of mine. i am still considering doing something around those three eggs on the left but i'm not sure what i want to do. i am also thinking about adding small circles to the bottom right corner. isn't it funny how it's just paper but you feel scared to add something because it might ruin it?

artful blogger magazine
my friends, mandy and donna, have a site called sunday postcard art (www.sundaypostcardart.wordpress.com) where every sunday is a challenge to create a postcard. artful blogging did an article on their site and one of my postcards was chosen to be included in the article. my dear friend, cathy's postcard was included in the article, too.
feeling blue
i'm hosting a monocromatic swap in the color of blue. i will admit i've never done anything monochromatically so this is a bit challenging for me. the first one went very slowly but i will admit i was feeling a little more optimistic after finishing the second one this morning. i had no idea working in the same color would be so difficult. i have 2 done and need 4 more.

a little card challenge
hero arts had a little video on how to make a great card. i wanted to try to make one, however, it called for a 3 inch circle and i only had a 2 inch circle, so my card is much smaller than the original. i'm not sure what i will use it for so i've yet to stamp any sentiments on it, but for the first one i didn't goof it up too much.
card making
it was time for stampin over the weekend. i made two cards. i love cupcakes so making the cupcake card was fun. i have a feeling i may use this idea quite a few times when i need a birthday card for someone. the other card is reverse stamping on the heart. it will make a nice valentine's card for someone i love.

sunday postcard art
this week at sunday postcard art the theme was turquoise but i also needed a postcard to trade with words of wisdom. i decided to kill two birds with one stone as they say. i saw my friend cathy did this and it inspired me to do the same thing.

RubberStampMadness Magazine
today i received a contributor's copy from "rubberstampmadness", the spring 2009 issue. one of the samples i did for alpha stamps was selected to be in the issue. the theme the magazine was looking for was the queen of hearts. i made a postcard using one of alpha stamps' rubber stamps. they also asked me to write a brief story of what it would be like to be queen for the day. i was surprised to see that a small square of my artwork was incorporated on the front cover. my artwork is featured inside the magazine on page 49.

diorama boxes
one of our last projects at alpha stamps was to make diorama boxes. i've never done anything like this before so it was quite a challenge. the boxes provide a shadow box and all the layering from the backgrounds to the images are layered one ontop of the other creating an interesting 3 dimensional piece of art. here are the two boxes i made as samples for alpha stamps. you can find all the supplies i used to make these boxes at: www.alphastamps.com.

making a doll
i made an art doll today for a monthly trade i'm in. the top of the art doll is a character construction stamp that my friend, cathy, sent to me to stamp some images. i wish now i had stamped a few more of them as i quite like that stamp and think it works well as part of an art doll. the skirt paper was sent to me in a package of goodies from my friend, jennifer. thanks girls!

making art
we are having a really big snow storm today and since i knew i wouldn't be able to go out to do anything i just made it a pajama day. i did a bunch of nothing and enjoyed spending time with my family, well that is, until football came on. then it seemed family time abruptly ended so i decided to come downstairs and do some art. here is a postcard i worked on today.

queen for the day
i've been thinking about hosting a crown swap for some time now. i guess i'm just not sure how to do it. i was thinking about a chunky book, a garland of three or just one and make it a magnet. so if anyone has suggestions please feel free to leave me a comment about it. i wanted to have a sample before i did anything though and this morning i finally got around to making one.
