it's monday once again AND a give away!

i am always amazed at how fast mondays seem to get here.  today, for stampotique, i created a postcard.  i used quite a few of my rubber stamps to create this.

first i used acrylic paints to paint on a piece of cardstock.  i used a portion of my steampunk border to stamp the top border and then colored it in with markers.  i cut a circle from scrap paper for the moon and placed it underneath the border.  i stamped my newly released caged bird over the moon and colored it in with watercolors and markers.  i stamped my just be you to the left side and colored it in with markers,  i also stamped the bird from that same stamp on to scrap paper, watercolored it, and cut it out to use as the third bird.  then i stamped the heart vine and used markers and gel pens to color it in.  i also made stems to connect the just be you stamp into the vine.  to finish it off i machine stitched around the postcard.

if you would like a chance to win this postcard please leave a comment. i will select someone at random to mail it to.  please make sure i have a way of contacting you should you be the luck winner.  i will draw a name on june 1st.  good luck!

documented life project

full page view
close up of detail on page
the documented life project for week 21's prompt was to add embroidery, embroidery floss or thread to your page.  i used my sewing machine and some thick cotton twine to meet the prompt for this week.  i used scraps of deli paper to create circles, and cut a fabric tag that i sprayed with dylusion spray to create a burst of color.  i then added another piece of scrap deli paper to two of the circles for a third layer.  i sewed them together on the sewing machine.  i added a tag that i folded in half on the edge of my , stitched it in place and added a chipboard "r" i painted.  the small popsicle stick was painted, stamped and secured with a thick twine.

loving my happy printer

a two-paged insert in my planner
what is behind the "unhinged postcard"

the backside of benny's birthday celebration
one of the best gifts i've received is my little 'ole happy printer.  i love being able to print out tiny photos for my journals.  it's wonderful to be able to print photos from my phone and pull my family's photos from the internet to incorporate into my work.  it makes the distance between us slightly less.   i am so thankful when i flip through my planner and see those precious faces.

documented life project

the documented life project for week 19 had a challenge about random acts of kindness.  i don't like to "do and tell" so i just made a page in honor of being kind.  some of the digital images i used were from tumble fish studio at deviant scrap.

newest member to the roc nicholas rubber stamp design team

i'm so happy to introduce samantha read as one of the newest members to join the roc nicholas rubber stamp design team. i adore her work.  she is very creative and enjoys rubber stamping.  she has passion for it, particularly when using stampotique stamps. that's where she was introduced to my rubber stamps and started using them.

samantha lives with poppy, her miniature schnauzer, who is her creative assistant and muse.  they live in the beautiful english countryside in worcestershire where inspiration abounds no matter what the weather.

samantha loves trying new techniques and loves to see the transformation of a piece of white cardstock turning into something colorful and happy.  she likes to include dimensional items in her art.  being creative is a way for her to express herself and tell a story.  samantha's work is often referred to as cute, quirky and whimisical.

you can find out more about samantha at her blog, on facebook, and see more of design team work through stampotique with the stampotique designer's challenges.

here is what samantha created using roc nicholas stamps:

a fridge magnet using dog and flying heart
an altered tin using scooter girl, dog and heart vine
a snow globe using my bird princess

an interview with the fabulous kate crane

if you haven't checked out the latest rubberstampmadness magazine that is out this month, i'm going to encourage you to do so.  i had the pleasure of interviewing kate crane for an article for it.
kate shares all about herself, as well as letting us in on stamps she loves, supplies she uses, and stamping techniques.  she even provides a step by step on how she created one of her journal pages.

kate and i have known each from our online art trading days.  i've been so proud of kate and all of her accomplishments.  i have enjoyed watching her come into her success.  i know you will love getting to know kate, too, so hurry up and get this edition of rubberstampmadness.
