marie antionette
i'm in a marie antionette swap. i must confess i've never been drawn to that type of art in the past but i had a great deal of fun making these cards today.
time for art
i actually felt better this afternoon and sat down to do a little art. i needed a postcard for thursday trade in the theme of zetti. this one has a little "history" behind it and those who are closest to me will get the tongue-in-cheekiness of it.

when i'm feeling blue
i started this journal page last week right before my husband sent the infectious disease parade my way. i thought i was feeling better a few days ago and then wham! yesterday i was down and out for the count. i don't feel well this morning either but i forced myself to finish this page up since i had the idea of what i wanted it to be about. i journal phrases very sloppily on the background when i'm nearing completion. i purposely make my handwriting illegible but it says "when i'm feeling blue all i have to do is take a look at you then i'm not so blue". i will have prints available on etsy in week or so.

making journal pages
this is a front and back journal page for my friend amy. i am in a 8 x 10 journal page swap where we do the front and back of a page and exchange with someone each month. amy moved not to long ago so this page is in honor of her move. the back page heart was made out of my ongoing recyled garbage bag kick.

joyful journey
i've been working on another journal page using the same kind of background technique as the last posting. i actually feel like i want to write something either around the top of the mask, on the mask or on the right side of the mask. and i've also been tinkering with connecting the letters of joy to the mask, sort of like antannae. i'll have to put it aside and see what happens after i sleep on these ideas.
i've been intrigued by the whole thought of "masks" lately. have you ever thought about what masks you use during the day? do you even find that parts of you feel safer when incognito? why is it is so hard to just be who you are?

etsy
quite a few people have asked me if i ever thought of making prints of my work and i have to admit until i've had a few requests over the past few months i didn't really entertain the idea of having prints made. after thinking about it for quite some time i have decided to have some prints professionally made of some of my latest collage sheets i have done and will be offering them on etsy. thank you to all of you who have inspired me to do so.

i have been working on a journal page for a few days now and i think i've finished adding most of the little details to it. i'm still comtemplating writing a love quote around the edges. if i find the right one i just might add it. as for now i'm going to lay it aside and start another one. i hope you enjoy her.

catching up on art
today was a great day for the simple fact that i really got to sit down and do some artwork. it seems it has been a rare occasion when i have a few hours together of uninterrupted time. i needed a postcard for a challenge on thursday with the theme of "crowns". for me there is something spiritual about birds and while i could probably never quite be able to put my finger on just what it is, i find i'm practically compelled to use them in a lot of my artwork, so i hope no one ever tires of seeing them. as for me, now that i made this postcard i'm thinking i like it too much to give away. i just might have to keep this one for a little while.

happy valentines day
i just wanted to wish everyone a happy valentines day. i hope you have a day filled with lots of love.
a nice surprise
i have a wonderful art buddy, kathy, who thought enough of me to honor me with a little award today. this thoughtful act was extremely touching and i feel deeply blessed to be honored by her. thanks kathy. now it's right bach atcha!

more journaling
this week was the last week for the journaling class with pam carriker. i actually had gotten 4 pages somewhat under construction and had only finished one, until last night. i completed my second journal page after supper and quite like the final outcome. i'm thinking i might make prints of my journal pages to sell.

recycling plastic
i saw this article in one of the magazines i purchased about fusing together plastic bags. i tried it and really am delighted with the substance it produces. i thought i might give my fused plastic sample a try for a contest that is running for a hanging chunky heart. here is the finished sample.
journal workshop
well this week is the last week for the journal workshop i took with pam carriker. this week's lesson was shadows and highlights. i've been posting my journal page all along for you to see the progress of it. here is the finished page.

bingo card swap
a great art friend of mine, jennifer, is having a skinny bingo card swap. you must use a bingo card as your background and the size is 3 x 5. so i began by cutting out the bingo cards and adhering them to cardstock. then i rubberstamped them with my bird rubber stamp. well that was my first mistake. who knew it would be difficult getting images to fit around that rubberstamp. it took forever to get my first one done.

making a skinny
there is a challenge to make a skinny in the theme animal that i'm in next week. i knew almost immediately i'd do something with a bird because i love them so much but it took a few twists along the way. i'm happy with how it turned out.

feeling blue
this morning i worked on another monochromatic chunky page for a swap i'm hosting. i technically have them all done but i think i'll make one or two more so i can keep one for myself.
last night during the super bowl i worked on some journal pages so i hope to have something to upload to show this week's lesson. stay tuned.
