smooshed background technique video

my great friend, terri kahrs came for a visit yesterday to make art.  oh, we made a little, but we mostly laughed and giggled.  we liken ourselves to lucy and ethel. terri brought along her satchel of greatness which contains everything including the kitchen sink! in that satchel was her new camera that had video capabilities. so terri performed the skills of a cinematographer and had arms like a tripod. i didn't realize that it would be so hard to demonstrate and talk at the same time, so excuse the "ums".  we decided that we would like to keep it real, learn as we go and just follow the progress as we bring more videos to you. so here is the making of our first technique and i hope you enjoy it.

  2. I'll smoosh you! Loved it you guys! Roc! You're famous! Great camera work there, Terri. You are right, very steady. I would have made everyone dizzy if I filmed it (so my DH says...) How's that bowl of cereal?

  3. Roc, that was a great tutorial.
    Great camera work also.
Gotta have my daughter watch so she can remember for me how to do the smooshing of paper.

  5. I LOVED THIS! You did an awesome job... seriously. I'm taking notes for my first teaching gig. I want a closeby art buddy to have this kind of fun with! Going to have to go smoosh some backgrounds myself soon. :) HUGS! -Shelly
P.S. Thanks for the words of encouragement. I'll dig myself out sooner or later.

  6. Ooh, I've been finding hard to get started lately, but this might just be the thing to get me moving away from the computer and up to my desk..

  8. Oh it's good to hear your voice! And what fun to smoosh! I have done something very similar back in the day I made my own backgrounds - I've let digital do that for me awhile now - but hadn't tried the acrylic part before. May have to give that a spin! By the way, I like those portfolio pastels too - I think it's those that you can smear with a baby wipe (which you now probably have on hand for Benjamin). Anyway, what a lovely fun video you two made. I bet you two were a hoot to watch make that! I'm jealous of the great time I'm sure you had.

Before I forget - love, love, love the "I wish I were a fish" envie! Oh my goodness - I covet it! (and you're not supposed to covet things but I do anyway!)

And those bookmarks - so adorable and fun! I've missed my roc work fill lately. Now that I am feeling more myself again, I will be by more often.

As always, dear roc, thank you for your support and friendship. You mean so much to me and I am just always comforted knowing you are in the same world with me.
